Strengthening our impact
In 2023, we collaborated with clients and intermediaries on a number of projects, amplifying our impact and deepening our relationships with them.
Career Start Talent Pipeline programme
During our Career Start work experience in August 2023, we joined forces with The Church Commissioners for England to design and deliver a project for the students, running across the week. The young people completed a case study based on a real-life scenario, which included a site visit to the Hyde Park Estate and a group presentation on their recommendations to the client. The project was a hugely beneficial experience, helping the students to understand how our lawyers work with clients and the different ways in which they advise and support them.
"Partnering on the programme has allowed us to engage with the team at the Church Commissioners in a different way and to add another dimension to our relationship with them,” adds Emma Humphreys, Partner, in our Real Estate Disputes team. “It has also demonstrated that we take our responsibility in having a positive impact on society seriously and that our values are aligned with theirs."
“Collaborating with Charles Russell Speechlys on their Career Start programme was a rewarding and enjoyable experience. It was evident that the students had put a lot of time and effort into the task we set, and we were impressed with the innovative ideas they presented. Working together was a great opportunity to have a positive impact at this crucial stage of the young person’s life as they make future education and career choices. We are sure they all have bright futures ahead of them."

Belron
Throughout 2023, vehicle glass repair and replacement group and client of the Firm, Belron, has been collaborating closely with our Pro Bono team to facilitate pro bono legal advice for anti-slavery charity Justice & Care. This work has included our Commercial team advising on template collaboration agreements and our Family team delivering training to the charity’s “Navigators”, who provide one to one support to victims of human trafficking. Our pro bono work with Belron is set to expand in 2024 with continuing support for Justice & Care and a potential new partnership on our “Kids In Need of Defense” project.
Grant Thornton
In June 2023, we launched an innovative collaboration with Grant Thornton’s forensic accountancy team as part of our Pro Bono Windrush Legal Initiative. The team has been providing expert forensic accountancy guidance on a pilot case, working with Charles Russell Speechlys Partner Sarah Higgins, Associate Dhara Shah, Trainee Solicitor Francesca Heath-Clarke and Solicitor Apprentice Jessica Dawkins. We are exploring an expansion of the partnership in 2024, with Grant Thornton’s team potentially supporting further cases.
