Partner promotions:

Ed Birrell – Private Wealth Disputes – UK

Ed joined the Firm in 2017. He advises UK and international clients on domestic and multi-jurisdictional private wealth and trust disputes, specialising in complex trust disputes with an international element or corporate asset base. In addition to his work advising trustees and beneficiaries, he is a core member of the pensions litigation team advising on construction and rectification issues as well as claims within pension schemes. Ed also deals with contentious landed estates matters.

Usman Khan – Real Estate – UK

Usman joined the Firm in 2016. He deals with all aspects of investment and development transactions and regularly advises his clients on sales and acquisitions, development agreements, overage and clawback arrangements, option agreements, conditional agreements, rights to light, landlord and tenant matters and property financing. He has particular expertise in acting for charities and not for profits, including by running cross disciplinary teams to deliver an integrated service to charity clients and assisting them in the structuring of transactions to deliver the optimal result for the charity.

Timmoney Ng – International Tax – Singapore

Since joining the Firm as a Legal Director in April 2024, Timmoney has been an integral part of the team, advising a variety of clients on US tax matters from companies and funds, to investors and entrepreneurs. Timmoney is a specialist US tax lawyer whose practice focuses on international startup companies, fund investors and large multinational corporations in the tech, life sciences, semiconductor and crypto/blockchain spaces.

Sirin Yüce – Family – Geneva

Since joining the Geneva office in 2019, Sirin has been an integral part of the growing team, advising clients in Switzerland and around the world. Sirin’s practice is marked by a depth of experience in international children and complex financial matters in the context of cohabitation, separation or divorce, often advising high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs and professionals. Her cases frequently have an international dimension.

Legal Director Promotions:

Jonathan Rothwell – (Private Client – London, UK)

Jon joined the Firm in 2016. He has wide-ranging experience in all aspects of private client work and advises UK and international clients on tax, trust and succession planning matters. Jon has a particular focus on guiding internationally mobile HNW / UHNW clients (including those moving to the UK) through UK tax affairs and wider asset structuring.

Tom Smitham (Corporate – London, UK)

Tom joined the Firm in 2005. He is an established corporate lawyer who advises private and public companies on a broad range of corporate transactional and advisory matters. He has particular experience in the Sport sector, having advised on a significant number of transactions in that area, primarily in football but also in tennis, cricket, golf, motorsports and sports tech. Aside from his expertise in Sport, he is also very active in the TMT, Private Wealth and Retail sectors and undertakes a significant amount of ECM work.
